Bright Leaf Smokey Pig & Cheese Crostinis

This gameday or party snack packs a lot of Southern flavor in one bite. The appetizers features Bright Leaf Smoked Sausage, famously smoked with natural hickory wood in North Carolina for an authentic, deep taste. This dish combines the unique, mouth-watering flavor of the sausage with simple, fresh ingredients, creating a perfect harmony of taste and tradition.

Ingredients:

  • (1) 16 oz. Pack of Bright Leaf Smoked Sausage
  • 8 oz. Block of Cream Cheese
  • Baguettes
  • Olive Oil (EVOO)
  • Honey
  • Pepper Sauce
  • Hot Honey Rub (or similar seasoning)
  • Hot Pepper Jelly

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Grill: Light your grill with charcoal briquettes and a wood block for the flavor of smoke.
  2. Prepare Cream Cheese: In a small skillet, place the cream cheese and score it in a criss-cross pattern. Season it with a hot honey rub.
  3. Grill Cream Cheese: Cook the cream cheese over indirect heat for about 90 minutes.
  4. Cook Smoked Sausage: Grill the smoked sausage links over direct heat when the cream cheese has about 15 minutes left. Remember to flip them for even cooking.
  5. Prepare Baguette: Cut the baguette into thin slices, brush with olive oil, and season with the hot honey rub. Bake in an oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.
  6. Make Hot Honey Sauce: In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of honey, 1/3 cup of pepper sauce, and 2 tbsp of the hot honey rub. Whisk together and let it melt over low heat.
  7. Assemble Crostini's: Once everything is cooked, layer your crostini's: baguette slice, smoked cream cheese, hot pepper jelly, a slice of smoked sausage, and a drizzle of hot honey sauce.
  8. Enjoy your delicious smoked cream cheese and sausage crostini's!
