Bright Leaf Hot Dog Burnt Ends

Burnt Ends are trimmings from smoked brisket and are a BBQ delicacy. This recipe puts a delicious twist on burnt ends by replacing BBQ with North Carolina fresh and local Bright Leaf Hot Dogs. This mind-blowing flavor and texture will take your hot dogs to the next level!

 

Ingredients:

  • (1) 10 lb Case (about 100) or 2 lb. Bag (20) of Bright Leaf Hot Dogs
  • (1) Jar of Cackalacky Cheerwine Sauce
  • (1) Stick of Unsalted Sweet Cream Butter
  • Brown Sugar
  • Mustard
  • BBQ Rub

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Season up Bright Leaf Hot Dogs with a mustard binder and then generously cover with your favorite BBQ rub
  2. Smoke at 250 degress for approximately 1 hour
  3. Pull from the heat, and crank up the heat to 375-400 degrees.
  4. Cut each hot dog link into four even pieces.
  5. Add the chopped hot dogs, 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar, 1/2 stick of butter, and 1 cup of Cackalacky Sweet Cheerwine BBQ Sauce in a pan.
  6. Toss all ingredients, ensuring hotdogs are covered in the sauce; then lightly sprinkle with brown sugar.
  7. Place back on the smoker for approximately 20 minutes until the BBQ sauce bubbled and caramelized.
  8. Enjoy!
